A Busy 11 Game Schedule For Wednesday, But The Question Is What Game To Watch?

Last night had 6 games on the schedule and the Hawks dominated the NBA storylines. They went into Cleveland and defeated the Cavaliers on their homecourt 110-106. Dennis Schroder lead the Hawks with 28 points and 6 assists in the contest. The Lakers came back down to earth losing to the Mavericks, Memphis won a Gasol buzzer-beater, Portland beat Phoenix in another OT game played by these 2 teams and the Kings and Nets both protected homecourt in winning at home.

(My record so far: 2-4 yesterday- 22-17 last week and 24-21 overall.)

Game Of The Night

Toronto vs Oklahoma City- 8pm

Danny’s Key For A Raptors Victory- Toronto will be without Jonas Valanciunas again tonight so rookie Jakob Poetli will be the focus of any type of scoring from the post for the Raptors. He played well in the game on Sunday against the Kings. If he can be able to keep Kanter and Adams off the glass and provide 12-14 points on the offensive side, then the Raptors will give the Thunder its 2nd loss of the season.

Danny’s Key For A Thunder Victory- If the Thunder couldn’t catch a better break in this matchup tonight they got one with Jonas being out. Adams and Kanter are outstanding rebounders and they should be able to provide 2nd chance opportunities for the Thunder. If they can grab 22 combined rebounds and at least 8 offensive, then Oklahoma City will be 7-1.

Danny’s Prediction- The Thunder have enough wings to keep DeMar from going off in the scoring column. Andre Roberson and Victor Oladipo will draw the DeRozan assignment most of the game. It’s not going to be easy but Kanter should go for another double-double (19 points and 12 rebounds) and the Thunder win this game at home. Thunder by 3 points 105-102

Games You Should Pay Attention To

Utah vs Charlotte- 7pm

Charlotte enters the game tonight as one of the hottest teams in the entire league currently. Kemba Walker leads this group scoring 24.1 points a game (Currently 11th in the league) and when added with Nicolas Batum gives the Hornets one of the best backcourts in the league. They scored a season-high 122 points on Monday against Indiana and hope to continue with their hot shooting ways. But one of the main reason why the Hornets are 5-1 right now is that fact that they take care of the ball better than anyone in the league. They only commit 11.3 turnovers a game which is the best in the NBA.

Utah makes the trip out east a team that has injuries everywhere. They started the season without Gordon Hayward and a healthy Derrick Favors. Now George Hill has hurt his thumb and Boris Diaw is out with injury as well. But the good news for the team is that Rodney Hood has stepped his game up. The 2nd year swingman, is 2nd on the team in scoring and is the best defensive player on the roster as well (not named Rudy Golbert). Besides Hood’s play, Hayward returned on Sunday and Favors has been slow in getting back to his usual play.

Danny’s Prediction- The Jazz have beaten some good teams in the early part of the season and will be tested by another one tonight. Hayward will find his shooting stroke back tonight. Charlotte should win this game, but without Kidd-Ghilchrist helping on Hayward it’s going to make things difficult. I’m taking Charlotte in my game of the night, 98-95. Watch Walker score at least 30 points.

Chicago vs Atlanta- 7:30pm

The Bulls come into Atlanta after blowing out the Magic on Monday night at home. After 15-0 run in the 3rd Quarter, the Bulls used a 27-11 3rd quarter advantage to beat the Magic by 32 points. Jimmy Butler had 2o points and led a balanced Bulls attack. Most importantly, the loss snapped a 3 game losing streak.

Speaking of snapping losing streaks, the Hawks snapped an 11 game losing streak last night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The key was Dwight Howard keeping Tristan Thompson off the boards, Howard outrebounded both Thompson and Kevin Love as the Hawks pulled out a 4 point win. Kent Bazemore had his 2nd 20 point scoring game in a row in victory.

Danny’s Prediction- Howard was brilliant controlling the boards last night and should have an easier time against the Bulls. Wade should have a better shooting game but the Hawks get a big game out Paul Millsap and Tim Hardaway Jr. and take a large step forward in the Eastern Conference. Hawks win 103-98

Houston vs San Antonio- 9:30pm- ESPN

Houston has been getting a majority of their points from James Harden since the season started. If he’s not scoring, (31.6 points per game, 3rd in the NBA) he’s making sure his teammates are involved (12.7 assists per game, 1st in the NBA). But even though Harden had 32 in their win against the Wizards on Monday, the teams Defense stole the show. They held Washington to scoreless for over 3 1/2 minutes late in the 4th quarter get the victory.

The Spurs get Danny Green back from injury tonight and could have Tony Parker as well, giving the Spurs a chance to have their full assortment of players for the 1st time this season. There going to need them after getting beat twice at home last week. The Spurs went 40-1 last year at the AT&T Center, but have already lost twice before the Presidental Election. The Spurs can’t allow the free flowing Rockets to do what the Clippers did to them on Saturday. They allowed 39 1st quarter points and 73 1st half points in their 24 point loss at home.

Danny’s Prediction- The Spurs win games like these. James Harden will draw more Kawhi Leonard than any other defender tonight. I don’t see Harden having another 30 point game tonight. Leonard proves the nickname of the KLAW is legit. Spurs get a 25 point game from Aldridge in the win. Spurs by 7, 105-98

Portland vs L.A Clippers- 10:30pm

Portland won a hard faught overtime game against the Phoenix Suns last night at home and they get rewarded by taking a trip down the California coast to take on the L.A Clippers at Staples Center tonight. The Trail Blazers got a combined 71 points from Damian Lillard and C.J McCollum in the win. Al-Farooq Aminu hurt his calf and could be unavailable for the Blazers tonight.

Portland is going to need all hands on deck because the Clippers are 6-1 and are coming off a 32 win over the Pistons on Monday night. The Clippers are leading the NBA in scoring defense at 89.4 points allowed per game. That should be key going against a Trail Blazers team that has scored 124 points last night and are the only team to break 100 on the Clippers this season.

Danny’s Prediction- A game that should be considered for Game Of The Night, Lillard will be on his A-game going against Paul. Unlike last weeks game vs the Thunder at home, Paul will be more aggressive scoring and he ends up with a 20 point and 10 assist game. Jordan controls the boards and they get some big 3-pointers from Redick and Jamal Crawford. Clippers win 108-103

Not Bad, It Could Be Worse

Brooklyn vs New York- 7pm- ESPN

Would you believe that Brooklyn has a better record at this point than the Knicks? Yeah, I don’t believe it either but as they enter the contest the Nets are 3-4 with a chance to get to .500 with a win. The Nets could be without Brook Lopez as he could sit out for rest on the Nets current back 2 back set of games. Knicks fans get a chance to see how new “Defensive Coordinator” Kurt Rambis will find out how to keep the Nets off the scoreboard. The defense is 27th in points allowed and points allowed per 100 possessions are the worst in the entire league. This could be a train-wreak of a basketball game in the Garden tonight.

Danny’s Prediction- Brooklyn won a high scoring contest at home last night and the a chance to take on the Knicks less than 24 hours later. The Knicks should be able to capitalize on the Nets lack of depth, especially if Lopez is unavailable. Carmelo steps up on ESPN for at a 32 point game and the Knicks win with defense. Yes, I said defense. Knicks win 103-96

Detroit vs Phoenix- 9pm

Detroit, fresh off having their road-trip start off on a bad note in Los Angeles on Monday, flies over to take on the Phoenix Suns tonight. The Pistons lost by 32 points and was never really in the game at all. The Clippers got an early lead and didn’t look back. Tonight should be a solid bounce back against a team that played an Overtime game last night. The Suns got 31 points from Eric Bledsoe and hope to have the team’s leading rebounder in Tyson Chandler back with the team tonight. The Pistons are going for their 1st road win of the season tonight.

Danny’s Prediction- Both coaches should let the 3-pointers fly in this game. Phoenix might not win this game but they will put up a lot of points in this one. Van Gundy out coaches Watson and Drummond out rebounds the entire front-line of the Suns. I like the Pistons in this one, Marcus Morris has a 20 point and 8 rebound game against his former team. Pistons win 108-101

Dallas vs Golden State- 10:30pm

Dallas is coming off their 2nd consecutive win last night as they defeated the Lakers on the road. Tonight’s game isn’t about the Mavericks solid play in their last couple of games. This game is the return back to the Bay Area for 2 key members of the Warriors over the last 2 seasons. Mavericks forward Harrison Barnes and Center Andrew Bogut return back to play against the team who let them go in order to sign Kevin Durant and former Mavericks center Zaza Pachulia. Barnes had his 2nd consecutive 30+ point game in their victory last night and is ready to make 3 games in a row against the Warriors. The Warriors are fresh off of Stephen Curry’s record setting 13 3-pointer and 46 point performance on Monday night.

Danny’s Prediction- Dallas is coming an impressive in Los Angeles last night. The Warriors aren’t the Lakers and Durant, Curry and Company will let the Mavericks know that from the opening tip-off. Durant and Curry combine for 60 points and Draymond Green gets his 1st triple-double of the season. Warriors win 115-98

Watch Only If Your A Fan Of The Team Or Your Favorite Player Is

Boston vs Washington- 7pm

Washington has struggled to play defense under new head coach Scott Brooks so far. They are 27th in the league in 3-point defense and they look clueless on that side of the ball. Boston hasn’t been much better over the last few games either. They gave up 128 to Cleveland and 123 to Denver in their last 2 games. The Wizards should get John Wall back after resting on Saturday night. This games screams offensive explosion, but don’t expect it here.

Danny’s Prediction- The Wizards are almost at the danger point this early into the season. The good news for them is that Boston is still a bit short-handed coming in to the game. John Wall will put up John Wall number and Otto Porter Jr. saves the day and the Wizards win at home over the Celtics. Wizards win 101-98

Minnesota vs Orlando- 7pm

Minnesota lost another game where they should have won on paper. Andrew Wiggins scored 36 points and they still couldn’t beat the Nets. Wiggins draws Aaron Gordon tonight and that is worth the price of admission right there. Orlando comes into this game, fresh off getting blown out in Chicago on Monday night. Orlando has its own questions, like who will help Evan Fournier score the basketball.

Danny’s Prediction- Another game where Orlando should win. Minnesota is reeling after struggling to play defense in Brooklyn last night. Fournier will come up big for the Magic and they win another close game at home. Orlando by wins 6 96-90

Philadelphia vs Indiana- 7pm

Indiana has struggled to live up to its high expectations so far. But what has been even more disappointing for the Pacers is that team that normally plays good defense has struggled to do that this season. Paul George summed up this team in one quote, “We’re all out of whack, There’s no trust, There’s no chemistry. There’s no belief. We’re kind of just lifeless right now.” Now enter the win-less 76ers team the next 2 games can get them back on tract. Joel Embiid would make this game interesting, but we have to wait until Friday because he’s not playing tonight.

Danny’s Prediction- Indiana needs a bounce back game after losing to Charlotte by 22 on Monday. Paul George will not score 15 tonight, he goes for at least 27 points and the Pacers get back in the win column. Pacers 104-93
