The Final Sunday in November, Has 8 Games On The Slate, So What Should You Watch In The NBA Today?

Not much to recap when there was only 5 games scheduled last night. Charlotte and Memphis avenged losses against team they had played on Friday, the Spurs and Warriors both continued their winning streaks and Russell Westbrook tied LeBron James for 6th All-Time in triple-doubles in the Thunder victory over Detroit.

Today, features 8 games for your viewing pleasure starting at 1pm eastern time. So let’s get into What should you watch on the final Sunday of the month of November.

My record so far:

  • 5-0 Yesterday
  • 33-13- This Week
  • 28-18 Last Week
  • 109-69 Overall

Here is my method for breaking down the games on the daily calendar (If your brand new to this daily column):

  • Game Of The Night
  • Games You Should Pay Attention To
  • Not Bad, It Could Be Worse
  • Watch Only If Your A Fan Of The Team Or Your Favorite Player Is Playing

Game Of The Night

Houston vs Portland- 9pm

Houston hopes that they have the same success from the 3-point line tonight as they did on Friday night against the Kings. They launched an NBA record 50 of them as they won by 13. They hit 14 of their 21 made attempts as they fell 2 short of tying the NBA made record of 23. The 50 attempts shouldn’t be a surprise because the Rockets average 36 of them per game. They can tie the NBA record if they hit 10 of them today. The Rockets have hit at least 10 of them in each of their last 15 games.

Now if any team can match the number of 3’s taken today it’s the Trail Blazers. They average 30 attempts per game and have Damien Lillard and CJ McCollum leading the assault. Portland ended their losing ways by beating a hot New Orleans team on Friday night by hitting 12 of them. Both Damien and CJ combine for 5 made 3-pointers a game and could need a few from Maurice Harkless, Allen Crabbe and Meyers Leonard in order to keep pace tonight.

Danny’s Key For a Rockets Victory- Houston has to win the rebounding edge. Portland is the worst in the entire league in rebounding percentage and Clint Capella’s rebounding will be needed. Portland does not have one player who averages over 7 rebounds a game, so Capella (who averages 8.8 per game) should have an easy time getting as many as he wants.

Danny’s Key For A Blazers Victory- Portland needs to get Evan Turner going tonight. Even though Evan has picked it up lately (3 of his last 4 games he’s scored over 10 points), he’s still shooting 39.5% from the floor and 26.7% from beyond the arc. If he can provide 16 points, shoots around 50% from the floor and can play his usual solid defense on the Rockets shooters, then Portland could win its 2nd game in a row.

Danny’s Prediction- Houston has figured out how to use Patrick Beverly in their rotation and tonight he pays huge dividends. He should be able to hold Lillard from having a huge scoring game and he will provide an additional 13 points as the Rockets win a wild one on the road. I like Houston to win the 3-point battle (17 to 12 made 3-pointers) and the game 118-113.

Game You Should Pay Attention To

L.A Clippers vs Indiana- 6pm

The Clippers play the 2nd game of their East Coast road trip tonight in Indiana. Their opening game wasn’t a good one as they were beaten by the Pistons by the 11 points. That loss was the Clippers 1st loss on the road this season and they gave up an uncharacteristic 108 points in the process. Tonight’s game should be a bit of an easier one, because Indiana has ruled out Paul George for at least a week as he heals from ankle and back injuries. Chris Paul should take the lead and have a good game for the Clippers. If he scores around 20 points tonight, then the Clippers will win their 15th game of the season. He averages 19.3 points per game when they win and 10.7 when they lose.

Good News for Pacer fans is that they can win without with the injured George and C.J Miles. On Friday night, led by Glenn Robinson III, the Pacers beat the Brooklyn Nets. Bad news is that the Clippers aren’t the Nets. Indiana will need to get the same effort tonight as they did on Friday night in order to beat the NBA’s best team. Indiana is 7-4 at home this year, so they know how to win on their home floor. If Miles Turner can get them a double-double (18 points and 12 rebounds), Indiana has a shot at winning tonight.

Danny’s Prediction- Friday night for the Clippers was one of those games that just happens in the NBA. They got off to a poor start and didn’t have enough left to come back and win. Now traveling to Indianapolis is a completely different ball game. The Pacers don’t have their best player for at least a week and they don’t have same type of firepower off the bench, especially since their best shooter is out as well. I like the Clippers 105-96 on the road tonight. Paul has 24 points and 13 assists in the win.

Not Bad, It Could Be Worse

Milwaukee vs Orlando- 6pm

In the month of November, you don’t want to use the word must win game when discussing a game in the NBA. But tonight’s game for the Orlando Magic should be considered one. If the Magic lose again, that would make the 3rd straight loss in a 5 day period. The even worse part is, all 3 games were at home. Orlando needs to be able to find the basket against one of the longer teams in the NBA in the Bucks. Milwaukee needs to find a consistent rhythm in order to stop the pattern of non-consistant play as well. This game is super important as both teams find themselves at the bottom portion of the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Danny’s Prediction- Orlando has seemed to struggle with anything that comes to the offensive side of the ball. A team that has failed to score at least 100 points in 6 of their last 7 will, will have even more trouble scoring on Giannis and company tonight. I like the Bucks to win on the road tonight, Jabari Parker scored 23 points in the 102-93 victory.

Atlanta vs L.A Lakers- 9:30pm

If there isn’t a better time for the Hawks to get revenge against a Lakers team who beat them on their home court earlier this month, tonight is the perfect time to do it. The Lakers are going to be without at least 3 key members of their rotation again tonight as they enter this contest. Los Angeles will be with out D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Nick Young in this game tonight. Atlanta needs to have a better effort tonight than they did against Utah. They only scored 68 points and were blown out by 26 on Friday night.

Danny’s Prediction- Paul Millsap needs to find his offensive game again. He’s been so good defensively, that he might have forgotten about how good he is offensively. The Hawks are 4-1 when he scores 20 or more points in a game. They go to 5-1, when he scores 26 points and the Hawks defeat the Lakers. Atlanta wins 107-98

Watch Only If Your A Fan Of The Team Or Your Favorite Player Is Playing

Cleveland vs Philadelphia 1pm

Danny’s Prediction- On a positive note, the 76ers are going to have Joel Embiid in the lineup today. The bad news is that they are playing a Cavaliers team, that has had a 40 point lead in each of last 2 games. Cleveland won’t get a 40 point lead today, but they will win by at least 20. Cleveland wins 109-86, LeBron James leads Cleveland with 27 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds.

Denver vs Phoenix- 3:30pm

Danny’s Prediction- In the up and down game of the day, both teams should light up the scoreboard in the “Valley Of The Sun”. The difference is that Phoenix hits enough 3-pointers and they win the game. Devin Booker breaks out of his scoring slump (He’s had one 20+ scoring game in his last 5 games) and scores 29 points in the 115-109 win.

Sacramento vs Brooklyn- 6pm

Danny’s Prediction- DeMarcus Cousins leads his Kings into Brooklyn tonight in hopes to win their 1st road game against in the Nets in 9 years. The Kings will keep Nets off the 3-point line after giving up 50 attempts to Houston on Friday night. I expect Cousins to have his way with Brook Lopez, he has 36 points and 15 rebounds and the Kings win 110-103.

New Orleans vs Dallas- 7pm

Danny’s Prediction- Even though the Pelicans lost their last game, you can see that their early season misfortunes have turned around. Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the NBA for a reason. Davis has a 36 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks today and the Pelicans win again. Today’s statline will be similar to the 33 point, 10.2 rebounds and 3.2 blocks line he’s been averaging over the last 5 games.
