As the pre-draft work is in full swing for NBA teams, the Philadelphia 76ers nipped away one variable from the checklist as they picked up the option of 1.5 million of Robert Covington for the 2017-18 season.
Last season, Covington started 67 games for the 76ers and averaged a career high 12.9 points per game and 1.9 steals per game which was fourth best in the NBA. He has already garnered the respect of most in the NBA as a top defensive player and shows the capability to knock down the open three ball as he is currently fifth all time in made three pointers for the organization. In 204 games with the Sixers “Bobby Buckets’ as some fans have called him, has averaged 12.7 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game.
At this point it looks as if, next summer the team will be looking to further extend the contracts of both Covington and Joel Embiid.
